Step 1: Apply Online

Log in to www.gov.uk and start applying for your visa. The details you enter should be correct and true to your knowledge. During the process, you are required to provide the following documents:

1. Passsport :-

Original Passport with validity of a minimum of six months and a minimum of two blank pages (back to back) for visa stamp. Attach all Previous passports to show previous travel history.

2. Photographs :-

Two recent passport-size photographs with a matt finish, 60%-80% face coverage, white background, and without border (Size: 35mm x 45mm).

3. Proof of change of name, if applicable, such as a marriage or divorce certificate or name change affidavit.

Step 2: Your Financial Readiness

• Personal bank statements for a 6-months period (Statements or balance certificate should have bank stamps).

• Pay slips

• Income tax returns (Last 3 Years old)

• Form-16 (Last 3 Years old)

• Fixed deposits (Must have a balance certificate BANK STAMPED)

• Minimum savings of 5 lakhs for one person is recommended, (Also depends on the stay)

Step 3: Documents from the sponsor

• An invitation letter from your relative or friend (SPONSOR) in the UK, inviting you to visit. The letter could state:

Other documents of the SPONSOR include Visa status, Passport & Visa copy, Residence Proof, Employment proof, Tax documents, and pay slips if working, Bankstatement, Proof of home/flat Ownership, or rental contract. etc. A RELATIONSHIP PROOF with the SPONSOR (Like Passport, Birth certificate, Marriage Certificate etc), is also required.

Step 4:Covering letter

It is an essential component of your visa application file when traveling to the UK. It serves as a crucial supporting document that provides context and additional information about your trip and intentions.

Covering letter shoulddepict your plans and purpose, and return to your home country.Covering-Letter from the applicant on business letterhead should mentionthe name, designation, passport number, purpose, and duration of visit in brief. The letter should be duly signed by an authorized signatory with a company stamp and addressed to – The Visa Officer, British High Commission, New Delhi.

Please Note: Covering Letter on Letterhead if the applicant is Self Employed or on plain paper if Employed

Step 5: Establishing your ties with your country

Establishing strong ties with your country is the most important step while applying for a standard visitor visa in the UK. This can be done by providing proof that you have reasons to return home which include documents like

Step 6: Biometrics

After submitting your application along with all documents the last step is Biometrics. Fingerprints and facial photographs (known as 'biometric information') are required by the UK Border Agency as part of your application for a UK visa. A 100£ is the fee for a standard visitor visa with a maximum length of 6 months stay in the UK.
